Christmas Photos

We decided to take our Christmas photos in downtown San Antonio. The Alamo had a giant Christmas tree in front of it (I think somebody said it was 60 feet tall). We tried to take the dogs directly in front of the Alamo but a Sheriff told us we had to stay in the street.

We also have a Christmas tree. It is my very first Christmas tree!!

Orders

We just got orders. We're staying in San Antonio and I'll be driving out to Lackland AFB for work. My enlistment is up May 2012.....so we'll be in Texas until then (as far as I know). Our (tentative) plan is to separate from the military and move up to Omaha area in 2012. We'll keep you updated!

Latest

It's been a while since I've posted on here. I'm sorry for that but school has taken every last drop of my energy. For the past 8 months I've been busting my hump to make decent grades. I've finally finished the freshman trimester and passed! I'm now a junior (there are only freshman, junior, and seniors).

I hope you enjoy the picture of where I've spent over 10 hours a day for the last 16 weeks. We all crammed in those seats and had 50 minutes of class with a 10 minute break to wait in line for the restroom and water. Yes, there were 8 of these 50 minute blocks a day! The freshman and junior classrooms look identical and I'll post pics of the senior classroom when I get there.

This is the left half of the classroom. I sit in the middle! (Right in front of the chair that is turned).

This picture is from the far right side of the room at 5 am. Nobody else was there except for a few freaks like me to study before the test. My seat is far to the other side. There are screens that come down from the ceiling in the front of the classroom where presentations are put on. Fun. Death by powerpoint!!

I'll try to post more pictures of my school soon. I'm going to go enjoy my week off!!

Update

SO, it's been a while since I've posted anything on our family website. As you all know, I'm crazy busy with school. I am lucky enough to repeat the Freshman trimester because I had an overall GPA of 78.2 and the requirement is an 80 overall GPA to move on to the new trimester. I fell behind and finally realized that I was taking my tests the completely wrong way. I would hyperventilate with fear (sweaty palms, nausea, the whole nine yards) and then I would second guess and talk myself out of answers. I would be a Junior right now....but, I've learned what I did wrong! So far, I've scored a 92, 90, and 94. All because I haven't been second-guessing myself (and getting ahead with studying!).

I will try to post more photos of when Jason and Beth (friends from Omaha) visited.

Happy Early Birthday, Rob!

I took Rob to Hooters for his birthday dinner on Saturday because his birthday falls on a Tuesday and we're on crazy schedules right now. Our waitress was in charge of birthday entertainment :) She made him come to the front of the restaurant and hold a cup in his mouth with paper towels and "fly" around the restaurant. He was sad when they all scattered because he wanted to take a picture with them. Hahaha.

Then we came back to the house for cake. I got him his favorite: ice cream cake in February (okay, it was still January, but you get the point!) The knife actually broke when he was cutting the cake!

New Year, New Life

I began Physician Assistant school on January 5th. Let me tell you, after being on leave for about a month and then jumping into a strict schedule has not been fun. My schedule is as follows:

0400: Wake up and study
0500: Run with Harley in the neighborhood
0620: Leave for school
0640: Get to school and study
0730 or 0800(depending on test day/scheduling/etc): Start class
1900: Head home after 2 hours of studying at school
2100: Bed!! (After 2 more hours of studying)

I had my first test on Thursday. You have to make atleast a 75 or higher to pass the test. I made an 80. I'm still figuring out what study style works for me. I'm finding that I should review every topic the same night (like they mentioned...). This weekend is "Catch Up Weekend".

Luckily, Rob works evenings so it doesn't seem like I'm ignoring him. Saturdays are Family and Fun days.

I'll just say that the blogs may be sparse from now on until the end of the year. I'll keep things up to date though.

New home in San Antonio, Texas

I apologize for the delay on making a new post about our move. We (yet again) made a long caravan of a 26 foot long UHaul, the Jeep, and the trailer with the Harley. I followed this thing for nine fun (haha) hours in my car. Let's just say that I actually overdosed on caffeinne...not fun. Anyways, we then unloaded everything the next day in about 5 hours. Luckily, I've taken 20 days of leave to relax and unpack before school starts.

We have been taking the dogs to parks around here that have fun trails. The dogs go crazy with all the new smells. Rob and I are having fun adjusting to the new allergens here (Claritin to the rescue!).

Rob begins work at Coca Cola tomorrow night. He'll be working from 6pm-2am most days. This works out for the dogs because somebody will always be here (with the exception of an hour or two in the evening). I'll probably be leaving the house around 6am and getting home around 6 or 7 at night. I have to report to check in this coming Friday (Dec 5th). I'm not sure about the exact start date of class, but I'm assuming after the new year.

I promise to try and put posts on here regularly.
